"That could never happen at my school." This is one of the first thoughts that go through a student's mind when they hear about a school shooting. The fact is though, it can. It was a typical day at Dawson College on September 14, 2006 until Kimveer Gill opened fire at more than ten thousand students. As result of the shooting 19 students were wounded and 1 was killed. What turned Kimveer Gill into massacre? The exposure to violent media, feeling of isolation and haunting past of bullying. School shootings can occur at any school at any time of the day. Lack of security is only a small part of the problem. The major cause of school shooting lies in the influence of violent media, feeling of estrangement and schoolyard bullying.
