Today, individuals abuse anabolic steroids to enhance performance and also to improve physical appearance. Anabolic-androgenic steroids are man-made substances related to male sex hormones. "Anabolic" refers to muscle building, and "androgenic" refers to increased masculine characteristics. Steroids are only available by prescription or on the Black market. They can also be available through the mail from a foreign country. The most common use of steroids today are used by athletes who are looking for that edge over the competition.
