Gulick & Urwick say the management is getting activities completed efficiently and effectively with and through other people. In this paper we will discuss how the different functions of management impact the operations management theory of an organization. The four functions of management are planning, organizing, leading and controlling. Moreover we will describe the four management functions, the operations management theory, and explain how the four management functions impact the operations management theory.
The Four Management Functions
The four functions of management are planning, organizing, leading and controlling. At the government office I work, the Manager IV is responsible for the administrative portion of the department while the Manager I – III’s are responsible for operations management. The Manager IV (as directed by the Deputy Director) does the planning, organizing, leading and controlling.
