The city of God was a riveting, disturbing, and addictive movie. As the viewer I found myself wanting to turn it off due to the violence and the horror happening to these kids, yet I was rooting for Rocket, I wanted to see him succeed, I wanted to know the end.
The movie was so addictive to me, normally a viewer of only chic flicks, because not only was it based on a true story, but that I had never heard about this. I new there was violence, and poverty in Latin America but where is there not. I mean how much worse could it be there then it is here in the slums? I was wrong. I was dead wrong.
The story of Rocket and Li'l Zé was raw. It was true. It was real, and worst of all no one knows about this. These are the things that our mass media needs to focus on, people need to know and need to help.
In one of the beginning scenes of the movie the main gang goes to rob a brothel, and Li'l Zé is left outside to keep watch. Thinking that he is being excluded from the fun he......
