The play that I attended was Tartuffe by Moliere. This was a seventeenth century french comedy. The play was very interesting to watch. It proceeded all my expectations because I though it was going to be a boring play. However, I found it to be very excited because it kept you wondering what was going to happen next. This play was mainly about a father wanting his daughter to get married to a man that she did not love.
In the play the Orgon, the father, wants his daughter to get married to a man named Tartuffe. He believes that Tartuffe is a man of great dignity and honor. Orgon's daughter, Mariane, does not want to marry Tartuffe. In fact, she is already in love with a man named Valere. Mariane knows that Tartuffe is not the man her father thinks he is, but she does not stand up to her father and tell him this. The maid, Dorine, and Damis,, the son, seeks to show Orgon the lying and deceiving Orgon.
