Sitting in my grandma's basement I watch the evening news. The usual assortment of senseless violence and crooked politicians assaults my mind, making me shake my head in wonder. "What is this world coming to?" I wonder quietly to myself. All of these thoughts come crashing down as I hear my grandma call to me from upstairs. "Dinners ready!" she yells. I come out of my TV induced daze and suddenly realize how hungry I am. The maddening smell of homemade spaghetti sauce fills my nostrils and I run for the stairs. This is the moment I've been waiting the past six hours for, and the reason I skipped breakfast this morning.
My grandma is full blooded Sicilian, and makes the best spaghetti I've ever had. Italian food has always been my favorite, and whenever I go to visit she knows exactly what to make.
