Rachel Colof's Story
The auto biography of Rachel Colof was written to tell the reader about her and her family's struggles in the late nineteenth century and into the early twentieth. Rachel Colof is the author of the story and tells the story from her point of view. The book starts out in the later 1800's and begins telling about her childhood and living conditions that she encountered in Europe, as the story continues so does the time line on which it is told.
When the story starts out she talks about how life is in Europe and how the living conditions are in the part of the country she is from. She tells about the struggles of her mom dying when she was just a little girl and her father didn't want to remarry to make sure the kids had a nice and loving mother. Rachel tells how she lived with her religious grandfather and a short time after living there she learns that her aunt, who lives in the same town as her brothers and sisters, is looking to hire a maid.
