First And Only
This book is set in the future in another galaxy about a battle hardened team of men sent out by their unapproved Commander Dravere. Dravere sees the team (also known as Gaunt's ghosts [as their leader general Ibram Gaunt]) as a scapegoat in the army, then as an ally. He cares not for Gaunt and his men for they are the infantry men who don't give up and essentially blow through the enemy and steal the praise from Dravere. So along with Dravere, his lieutenants by his side help him to make the team of Ghosts disappear (without committing a mutiny).This book is very Graphic in detail and very gory as it is a book on war between the Imperial Guard against the Horde of Chaos. The world they are fighting on is called Fortis Binary also known as Forge World which was a mechanical world full of factories and Barren scorched land.
