Friction Lab
Planning A
My experiment was to test some aspect of friction. I chose to investigate a portion of static friction were two masses were connected by a piece of string. The bigger mass will be at a degree angle while the smaller mass will be hanging vertically over the side of the incline. My hypothesis is that the static friction will be .18. I will show you an example of my experiment with a picture. Mass 1 will represent the smaller mass while Mass 2 will be the larger of the masses.
Planning B
I placed the incline at a 25° angle, and I choose to clean it of any residue. Then I placed a 500 gram weight on the incline that was attached to a rope that had a 200 gram weight that was counteracting it. The 200 gram weigh was hanging vertically over the side of the incline attached by a rope that went through a pulley which was attached to the other mass. I made sure that neither of the blocks was moving because I wanted to investigate the form of static......
