SLAP! “Ow!” my little brother Andrew screamed as my other brother Dallin hit him. “Dallin, that is not okay!” my mom sternly disciplined. “But mom,” Dallin whined, “They do that on Power Rangers all the time!” As the topic of media violence was brought up, this is one of the stories that came to mind. Media violence does have a negative effect on the minds of everyone, especially younger children and teenagers! This is not okay, and something needs to be done about it!
As we think about the story shared in the last paragraph, this brings up one main reason that media violence is a bad thing. Children think that it is okay to hit each other and yell at one another instead of solving their problems in a civilized manner! On the playgrounds at school, fights are a constant occurrence when they fail to share the basketball, or steal someone’s swing. This is due to the fact that the media is portraying this as okay!
