The Start of Prohibition
Prohibition is a law that has passed making the sale or consumption of alcohol illegal. Prohibition is being known as the "Noble Experiment." Prohibition has started because it is felt that it will reduce crime, wife and child abuse, take away corruption, help work being done and many other reasons. It was led by the Women's Christian Temperance Union and the Anti-Saloon League. Prohibition was passed as the 18th amendment in the Constitution on January 16, 1920. Even before it was passed around 65 percent of the country had already banned alcohol and after it was passed alcohol was banned in the whole country. There are many people against it and the only question is, how long is it going to last?
