It has been said a numerous amount of times that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. After a long period of time when you are sleeping (which is on average a good 10 to 12 hours) your body starts to slow down. When you wake up in the morning your body is still in the state of “fasting.” Breakfast is the meal that breaks the overnight fast, hence the name “breakfast.” Eating a well-balanced meal in the morning ends that period of time where your body has conserved the calories, and allows your metabolism to rev back up to prepare you for your day.
There are many benefits of eating breakfast. For one it starts your day off right by refueling your body with vitamin and mineral rich foods that your body needs. It also allows you to control your weight. Studies show that it is easier for those who eat breakfast to maintain a healthy weight compared to those who do not.
