Schizophrenia
This movie on Schizophrenia relates a lot with what we are currently doing in class, because we are talking about Schizophrenia and everything that comes along with it. It was really surprising to hear that only 10% of people with Schizophrenia will need to be hospitalized throughout their lives, I always thought it was around 30% or higher. It was also really shocking to hear that only 1% of Americans will develop Schizophrenia in their lifetime, I know that 1% of Americans is still a lot of people, and I always knew that Schizophrenia was very rare, but I always thought it would have been more than just 1%.
There were a couple of things that we went over in class that also showed up on the movie. One of those being, the two types of onsets: chronic and acute. The other piece of information that we went over in class that was also one the movie was the three different types of symptoms that can lead to the diagnosis of Schizophrenia.
