Emma’S Allusions
Throughout the novel Madam Bovary, we are introduced to a very whimsical, passionate woman named Emma. Emma is very lost in her dream world where love overrides her priorities. She initially marries a man, Charles, to whom she was struck deeply in love by. However, she finds herself dissatisfied on her wedding night. Emma dreams of a life where she wakes up fanatically involved with a man who is flawless, where in fact she wakes up next to her husband Charles who has turned into an irritation to her eyes. Instead of making an effort to be happy with Charles, Emma transfers her fantasies and allusions to other men that can take her mind of f of her disappointing life. Emma gets a taste of the rich and luxurious lifestyle when she enters a ball which opens her eyes up even more to the slob that she has married and makes her unhappy. Emma is lost in her allusions and fantasies when she in actuality her marriage and family lifestyle is anything but a dream come true.
