The draft is a very controversial topic in the United States. There are many people that are for it, and against it. The draft is known as the Selective Service System today. Young men between the ages of 18 and 25 are required to register so that the draft can be easily resumed at any time. As of right now the military is all volunteer but if there was ever a need for more people in it, then the draft would be brought back. I am against the military having a draft.
Many people find the draft to be unfair. One reason it has been called unfair is because many lower class people get drafted because the wealthy are able to find ways to get around it. One way people can get around it is to join the National Guard. People join because then it’s less likely that they will be sent overseas or be put into any dangerous situations. George W.
