The novel All Quite On The Western Front written by Author Remarque has it similarities to the movie based in Vietnam Platoon. One big similarity is the theme of what war can do to a man as well as comradeship. The biggest difference between the two are the time periods platoon is based in Vietnam during the Vietnam war in nineteen-sixty-eight and All Quite on the Western front is based in nineteen fourteen WW1 .
The theme of comradeship is very prevalent within both stories the men of both stories rely on the help and support of some of there comrades and this comradeship comes about from a very horrible situation this situation would be war. Through war friendships are forged because every soldier knows without friends a man is lost in war. Even Paul the main character in the book all quite on the western front knows this we see the theme of comradeship when Paul say’s “ the finest thing to arise out of the war is comradeship” (27).
