Race And Your Community
I live in a community that is made up of many different ethic groups. The Town of Kearny is a diverse community of 40,000 people. We have many backgrounds in Kearny Whites, Black, Asians, and Spanish all with different features and styles of living. The members of my community do not look anything like me we are all different. Example I’m half Mexican and Cuban tall, a few extra pounds, long black hair, olive complexion, and brown eyes; while my neighbor is Irish short, skinny, short blond hair, and green eyes. Which makes us a total opposite and around town we are all different.
I do have to admit that the police in my community treat a lot of us differently especially Black people. Kearny was an all White town when I first came here and for me to fit in was kind of hard at first; it took me six months just to make friends. While other people (Blacks) took longer. I guess that when they look at Spanish and Blacks they think of the worst from all of the crime that happened......
