Do you think JFK is a good representation of history?
The film JFK describes the events occurring during the time of the assassination from only one perspective. It supports Stone’s theory of a conspiracy including government officials, the military and the Mafia, and provides evidence to back up his theory. However, it does not provide any room for doubt as it clearly states that the only possibility was this conspiracy. The film provides a one sided argument and does not take into account many minor details that that are plausible and oppose this idea.
As Tom Wicker says (New York Times, December 1991), the film provides theoretical facts and truths, “thus rewriting history”. It depicts only the supporting data and does not inform the audience of the whole picture. The bases of the film are mostly theories, which cause the audience to question the reliability of the facts stated in it.
