I have often heard the phrase “television just ain’t television anymore” by many as they pine for the days of old, when one could switch on the huge box situated in the corner of the room and navigate through the 4 or 5 channels at their disposal. There was no ESPN. There was no MTV. There certainly was no Home Shopping Network.
Well, times have changed. The demand for better and more elaborate programming from our service providers has reached a crescendo, with us all wanting more channels, the best possible service, and, of course, the best value for our hard earned buck. This is what led to my decision to evaluate the two basic forms of receiving television programming in our area (outside of the basic antenna) – satellite television (DirecTv and Dish Network) and digital cable (Insight, Comcast).
