The futility and insanity of war has been argued upon for many years, but no one has reached a conclusion that suits all. I chose to focus on the prisoner of war aspect of World War 2. World War 2 is one of the wars that had sparked my interest, thus influencing my decision to choose this as my focus. I focused on the POW aspect of World War 2 as it is often neglected by many even though it is very fascinating. Using two feature films and a book length expository text, The Great Escape, The Bridge on the River Kwai and The Great Escapers, I have gained greater understanding of the focus and managed to understand more about the world in which we live in.

During World War 2, many factions argued with each other whether it is better to give the enemy as much trouble as possible or just be obedient in order to sit out and enjoy the rest of the war. In many instances, it is believed especially by the Allied forces that it is the duty of a Prisoner of War to escape and cause havoc......
