Vietnamese Families

My name is Michael and when I was a child I lived with my family in Pennsylvania; this includes my dad, step-mom, sister, three step-sisters and a step-brother. We lived in a small somewhat rural town where grandma and grandpa live a short walk away. We attended church every Sunday without exception and basically are the all-American family. The exception to that is that I and my sister Kim are Vietnamese Americans.
I was born in April of 1972 in a small village near Saigon Vietnam. I was given the Vietnamese name Nguyen Thanah Phong, but do not remember ever using it. My father was a solder serving in the Vietnam War and my mother was a Vietnamese woman from a nearby small village.
My parents met while my mom was going to the base looking for work to help support her family. They became a couple, even with a language barrier and soon found themselves pregnant with my sister. My dad was able to secure a small apartment for my mom and Kim, using his small pay to support them. A......
