Leonardo Da Vinci

The Renaissance was a time period, roughly from 1300 to 1600, that contained a major cultural movement. Renewed learning was one of the defining characteristics of the Renaissance. People began to try to explain their world. Before the Renaissance people just looked to the Church for answers which the Church claimed to find in the Bible. It was a time where humankind started to understand everything around them in a scientific fashion. The people who took this interest in learning to the highest degree and tried to educate themselves in every way possible are referred to as “Renaissance Men.” Leonardo da Vinci embodies the idea of the “Renaissance Man” because of his scientific discoveries that still hold true in the scientific community today and for his mechanical drawings that were so far ahead of his time that they are just becoming realities in the present day.
