The impact of the European Union (EU) in newly accessed countries of Central and East Europe (CEE) is very noticeable and this paper will prove that in fact ‘Europeanization’ was already taking place even before these countries became full EU member states. Firstly, this essay will clarify the definition of ‘Europeanization’ and touch on its politics. Secondly, it will briefly mention the classical foreign policy analysis (FPA) considerations including: the impact of geography, historical experiences, foreign policy-making actors, which all affect the manner in which the CEECs see their entry and involvement within the EU. Thirdly, this essay will briefly describe the road to accession of the CEECs, before then examining the cases of Slovenia and Czech Republic after accession.
