MTV (Music Television) is an American cable television network based in New York City and now owned by MTV networks(Viacom). Launched on August 1, 1981, the original purpose of the channel was to play music videos.[1] Today, MTV plays a limited selection of music videos but primarily broadcasts a variety of pop culture, youth culture, and reality television shows aimed at adolescents and young adults.MTV is the world’s largest network with nearly 1 billion viewers in 160 countries. MTV has spawned a handful of sister channels in the U.S. and dozens of affiliated international channels around the world,includingVH1,MTV2,MTVtr3s,Nicklodeon,Spike TV,others.
MTV is especially popular with youth audience,its core consumers is between 15 and 34 years old.
