Focusing upon one of the last scenes from the movie Ugetsu, we find the protagonist Genjuro making his way to his home. After escaping from his “imaginary� life with a ghost named Wakasa, he felt like it was best to get back on track with life and to re-unite with his family. He walks home, showing obvious signs of exhaustion. In this scene he was presented as a person who was hopeless with dirty old clothes, messy hair and a pitiful face. All that we could hope for was for his family to still be alive.
Genjuro makes his way to the house very slowly. He somewhat limps on his first few steps and pauses for awhile. He then rushes into his own broken house full of excitement which then turned into panic. There were not too many cuts in this scene; instead the director chose to do many panning. We follow him searching around the dark house which just looked empty. Then as he enters a different we finally find light that changed the mood again from panic to relief. Genjuro and his......
