Abstract
When one contemplates science and religion we must first have a solid foundation of knowledge from which we can contrast the two. This basic knowledge consists of first understanding the definitions of religion, science, reason and faith. As with all things, these definitions themselves will be subject to interpretation and subjectivity. This paper will examine the basics of science and religion plus answer some questions that may help better explain my feelings on such things as faith, religion and the ultimate purpose of science.
In looking to the basics of science and religion, these four words: faith, reason, science and religion must first be clearly defined. Let’s start with the word faith. According to the web site Answers.com, faith has been defined as:
