Huckleberry Finn Analysis
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn starts off by describing the life of Huck Finn, who is the main character and also narrates the story. Huck summarizes the ending of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer in the first part, and tells how he and Tom found a large sum of stolen gold. It goes onto describe Huck’s drunk and dirty pap that disappears for months at end and is believed to be dead. Huck now lives with Widow Douglass and her sister Miss Watson. The Widow is attempting to civilize Huck into being a respectable citizen of society. Huck on the other hand greatly dislikes the civilized ways and wants to break free. He escapes this lifestyle to join Tom for the life on the edge. The two boys get together and play a prank on Miss Watson’s slave Jim who is highly superstitious. Also they get together to start a gang of so called robbers. However this does not last very long as for the gang is imaginary and is quick to lose the interest of Huck.
