Research In Social Science
The professionalism chapter of this book was effective in allowing one to understand the
totality of being a quality and competent social worker. It presented a fundamental look
at what it takes to function in the social work profession. The components that were examined were such aspects as the purpose and function of professionalism in social work, the significance of professionalism for effective social work practice, the relevance of professional knowledge and self-efficacy, and preparing a family genogram. Included also was how to prepare a critical events time line, completing a personality assessment, and completing an initial assessment of readiness for social work profession.
Integrity is one of the core values of the NASW Code of Ethics. It was introduced early on in the chapter, and provided a launching pad for the understanding of how social workers are to function in a purposeful and professional manner. It taught that in general, “social workers and other......
