Parents today have to protect there children more things than ever before. Taking only media into consideration there is music, movies, television, and, in recent times, videogames. Videogames combine elements of other forms of entertainment letting the player interact with a virtual world. Because of this interaction, many people believe that videogames can harm children in various ways. In order to assist parents, either government boards or independent associations have assigned ratings to videogames. Unfortunately, these ratings don’t always tell the whole story of a videogame’s graphic content. If parents want to regulate the violence their children are exposed to by videogames, they must get involved themselves and not rely on ratings determined by associations.
