History has proven the ability of humankind to progress, more specifically and in the interest of this essay, we as human beings are constantly developing and building upon our place(s) in the world. Our cities and towns seem to be ever expanding; buildings and industries grow bigger and taller at alarming rates.
In my own recent experiences I have seen this point illustrated. As a student living on the University of Iowa campus, I have the chance to encounter the various buildings and structures within Iowa City. Many of the familiar routes I take to my classes often become too familiar and I have found myself failing to quickly notice the changes around me. Such changes include the recent construction of two apartment complexes within a two-block range of my own apartment complex.
