Kate Chopin
Kate Chopin was an extremely talented writer. Chopin wrote about real feelings and issues. Few of the topics Chopin wrote about were spoken of. Kate Chopin became one of the best known and most controversial writers of the 19th century. She stood up for women, their rights and other real issues ,no matter what the cost was to her reputation.
Kate was born on February 8, 1850 in St. Louis, Missouri to Eliza and Thomas O’Flaherty. Her father became one of the first influences in her life. However, on November 1, 1855 Kate’s father was killed in a train accident. Because of Kate’s fathers death, she was raised by her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. On June 9, 1870, Kate marries Oscar Chopin and moves to New Orleans. Kate and Oscar had six children early in their marriage. Oscar and Kate later settled in Cloutierville, Louisiana where Oscar died on December 10, 1882. Kate and her children moved back to St. Louis to be closer to Kate’s mother. Unfortunately......
