Thoureau And I
This past month I have spent the night in jail with Thoreau, walked through the woods of Walden and slept with in the streets with the victims of the Great Depression. I have watched in horror as Japan invaded Manchuria and Hitler persecuted thousands upon thousands of Jews. I have driven to California with the Joad family looking for work. I have counted moles in chemistry with Amadeo Arogrado. I have advised Roosevelt and stood by Eisenhower for the invasion of Normandy.
According to transcendentalism each person contributes their individual verse into the song of life. Each person has a separate passion that distinguishes them from society. My passion is not a typical one when compared to my friends. My passion is learning. Learning takes me to a whole new dimension, where I feel I can make a difference with my newly acquired knowledge. I wouldn’t be the person that I am today if it hadn’t been for these past twelve years. Sometimes I am astounded at what capacity the brain......
