Immagration To The Colonies

Europeans first began immigrating to the western hemisphere during the sixteenth century. The main destination of the immigrants at first was the Caribbean islands but eventually the immigrants began to migrate to mainland America. In various ways the purpose of the Caribbean as well as the administration foreshadowed the future of the mainland English colonies. The wish to become successful almost overnight and the importation of slaves, rather than create a new life in a different area is a prime example of this idea.
Much like the settlers who developed society in the Caribbean, Christopher Columbus was looking for treasure and personal reward when he discovered the Americas in the Western Hemisphere. In the mainland English colonies, settlers developed towns and cities in an attempt to start a civilization while the main purpose of the Caribbean settlers was to earn a profit for England.
