SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR THE MICROBIOLOGY & IMMUNOLOGY LABORATORY


LABORATORY SAFETY REGULATIONS AND INSTRUCTIONS

Before you enter the laboratory:

1. Microorganisms can cause disease and the first requirement, therefore, is the need to handle them safely. The safety of yourself and your neighbors depend on your acquiring and meticulously applying the techniques, which will be taught to you.

2. Eating, drinking, smoking, storing of food, applying cosmetics, and inserting or removing contact lenses are not permitted in any laboratory.

3. Do not bring your cell phones or mp3 players and earphones into the laboratory.

4. Leave all your personal belongings in the designated area outside the laboratory. This includes pencil cases. Simply bring in pen, pencil, ruler and calculator, as needed, and keep them in your lab coat pocket. This is to prevent unnecessary contamination of your personal belongings with chemicals,......
