Healthcare today has become a billion dollar a year industry that has forgotten about the quality of service and is geared towards the quantity of service. Most hospitals today are run by corporate executives, not doctors, who only care about making a profit.
First, I would like to talk about healthcare insurance. Healthcare insurance has become so unaffordable to individuals who own their own business or are unemployed. Unless you work for a company that provides a reasonable plan or a company that pays of a portion of your plan, most people cannot afford simple services that we all take for granted today. Some companies today have tried to cut cost to their employees by offering them cheap HMO programs that limit the care they can receive or the annual cost to as low as 20,000 a year. I believe this is a tactic used to cushion the pockets of the CEO’s and CFO’s.
