OCD

Obsessive-compulsive disorder also know as OCD, is a disorder from which 1 in 50 adults in the United States suffer, according to research done by OCfoundation. The psychological disorder of OCD has many causes, symptoms and treatments. OCD is defined as “… a neuro-psychiatric anxiety disorder most commonly characterized by obsessive, distressing, intrusive thoughts and related compulsions which attempt to neutralize the obsessions” (Wikipedia).
The causes of OCD vary from person to person. Its possible for children to inherit OCD form a parent although, “ no specific genes for OCD have been identified” (OCfoundation). In the case where OCD does run in the family, the symptoms can vary from parent to child (OCfoundation). Another cause of OCD can be linked with a person’s age.
Most people believe that since OCD is mainly present in adults, it begins late in a persons life. According to OCfoundation, “OCD starts at any time from preschool age to adulthood......
