The Odyssey

I believe that Odysseus was determined to get back to Penelope, Telemachus, and Ithaca as quickly as he could.

An early on example that supports how much Odysseus missed home was when he is on Ogygis with Calypso. Emotionally he was drained and he was very sad on the island. He cried, all day looking out into the ocean, waiting for the time that he would be able to return home. Odysseus remained unhappy and depressed for seven years, until the day he was released.
During Odysseu’s time with Calypso she tried many different temptations, to make him want to stay on the island with her. For example she promised him immortality and eternal youth if he remained on the island and never left. This was an amazing offer to pass up, however Odysseus wanted his family more than he wanted Calypso. He did enjoy sleeping with her every night, but always thought about Penelope and Telemachus during the days. At one point he replied to Calypso “ My lady goddess, do not be angry at what I......
