The baby boom generation of the 1950’s is almost entering retirement. They have lived through many of the economic prosperities of the United States and most recently the slight economic recession due to the tragedy of 911. The subjects discussed in this interview of one the baby boomers are the physical decline due to old age, cognitive development, social and emotional development, and the contexts of development.
Daniel was born in 1950. He is the fourth oldest of seven children with four sisters and two brothers. He immigrated to Chicago from the Philippines in 1978 when the U.S. economy was prosperous. Having only finished an associate’s degree in engineering, he worked a job as a machine operator in Ray-Tech chemical distribution. When his second child was born in 1981 he received a bonus pay from his company which is unheard of today.
