Behaviourism
Introduction
The purpose of this paper is to identify which of the five educational philosophies the Ambulance Service of New South Wales (ASNSW) aligns to. By using the six elements of educational philosophies, namely, purposes, learners, teacher, concepts and key words, methods and, people and practices; I will critically discuss those elements and provide examples from the organisation’s policy and/or practice to illustrate where the elements of particular philosophies are evident. I will refer to official publications from the organisation and any further relevant readings will be cited. The ASNSW provides an ambulance service to the state of New South Wales. There are approximately 2800 paramedics with various clinical levels on the road supported by approximately 600 personnel. The challenge that the ASNSW has endured is how do they provide a consistent level of training and education across the whole state of New South Wales?
