We’ve all heard of Michelangelo, Rembrandt, or even Pablo Picasso. But just recently Cameron Kahn a kid that’s only fourteen years of age made a formalist painting that many claim is as good as the “big hitters” of the art industry. This week Cameron’s painting will be unveiled for the first time at the local art museum in the capital city. When I had a chance to talk to him he stated that “to make a great piece of art work you must have freedom, creativity, and put forth your best effort, after that everything comes easy”.
Formalism is usually misunderstood to the average person because there are no people, places, or things used in this style. While having no scenes or people, formalism also avoids telling a story and makes you as the viewer use a little of your imagination. Cameron himself has even said that he enjoyed looking at realism paintings more than formalism paintings because the artist paints vivid scenes or people and you don’t......
