After reading through the four articles assigned I found some very interesting points related to IFRS. Most of the content in the articles pertained to switching U.S. GAAP over to IFRS. The most interesting topic I found is how the U.S. will go about switching over to IFRS and the measures to do so.
There has been a big debate on how companies will be able to switch over and the time period it will take. It is believed many large companies should be able to do so quicker than some of the smaller companies, which could happen years after. I personally find it very interesting that at some point we could potentially have some companies filing in IFRS and some in GAAP. This I believe could create huge disparities between company’s financial numbers and make it very difficult to compare companies. We already have trouble comparing companies when they are both filed in GAAP, but it could become potentially worse if we have GAAP and IFRS at the same time. I believe that in order to......
