Ewa Beach and Kapolei:
On the Leeward side of the island, there are two communities that co-exist in very close proximity to each other. One community is Ewa Beach, which is located among the ʻEwa District and the City & County of Honolulu along the leeward coast of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi. The second community is Kapolei, which is an unincorporated area community of Honolulu, Hawaii, United States under the administrative jurisdiction of the City and County of Honolulu and the Mayor of Honolulu.It is situated on land that used to be pineapple and sugar cane fields.
While both communities sit very close to each other they do have various characteristics that set them apart.
One of the characteristics is how long the two communities have been around. Ewa Beach was founded in the mid 1900’s as prime sugar production machinery, with its fertile fields and vast amount of land. The community changed as the demand for sugar was lower until finally the sugar production in Ewa crashed.......
