I was standing out the front of my house panicking because I locked myself out of the house, with the only key inside. As I was panicking and trying to decide who could help me, then I was reminded of the time that I was locked outside my hostel room in Tokyo.
I stood in the middle of Tokyo International Airport, after travelling 8 hours; my first thought was shock as I looked at the empty airport. While on the plane I pictured getting off the plane in a crowded airport and being questioned in total Japanese about the contents of my bag and the reason for travelling to Japan. But, it was dead quiet and the custom’s person spoke confident English.
I was really tired from the plane trip and I hoped for a comfortable bed so I could recover from the ordeal of my first international flight. But, I just realized that I’m in Japan and I have no idea what a Japanese hostel or hotel looks like or what it is like to sleep in one.
