Galileo: A World Of His Own

The scientific revolution was a major turning point for the western world. People began learning new ideas and viewing things in completely different ways. Up to this point in time, religion had been an issue of pure faith. It was thought to be wrong for a person to try and prove or add on to the ideas of religion and those who argued against the church were considered heretics and were punished. During this time frame, people believed in the universe that Ptolemy had theorized: that the earth was the center and everything revolved around it. The church did not agree with any of the theories of this time though because they believed it was blasphemy. With the new ideas of Galileo Galilei and many others on the rise, the ideas of the scientific world and religion began to slowly merge together.
