Romanticism Art
Romantic Art 1776 – 1842
Romantic art mostly had to do with the beliefs that transcendentalists had. Transcendentalists’ believed that the mind is where ideas are formed and their views of God were not original but a combination of other philosophies and religions. I found this one piece of romantic art titled “Moon Watchers” it pictures two men standing in the woods, very eerie looking woods watching the moon come up. I actually found out that it’s from a book called “Moon Watchers” by Caspar David Friedrich. He was not only an author but a painter too. Friedrich was a major figure in the German Romantic era.
His painting made me feel somewhat anxious, like the two men are waiting for something and it makes me wonder what they’re waiting for. Not only does it make me feel anxious but it also makes me feel kind of scared. This is because of the trees, they’re very jagged and finger like which makes me think that they’re going to grab you or like scratch......
