Legalize it!

Marijuana is by far the most commonly used illegal drug in the United States and in most other countries as well. More than seventy million Americans have tried marijuana, and more than twenty million have smoked it in the last year. Through my research, I have concluded that legalizing the use of marijuana would increase our national income, prohibition doesn’t work, and lastly, everyone should be given the liberty to use marijuana if they choose to, aren’t we a free nation?
In the United States, all levels of government federal, state, and local authorities participate in the "War on Drugs." We currently spend billions of dollars every year to chase peaceful people who happen to like to get high. These people get locked up in prison and the taxpayers have to foot the bill. We have to pay for food, housing, health care, attorney fees, court costs, and other expenses to lock these people up. This is extremely expensive! We could save billions of dollars every......
