The Oxford Dictionary (2007) definition of art is, “the expression of creative skill through a visual medium such as painting or sculpture,� and “the product of such a process; paintings, drawings, and sculpture collectively.� Artistic expression has stretched across thousands of years, peoples, and places. The Renaissance saw the birth of such works of art as the “Mona Lisa� and Sistine Chapel by Leonardo De Vinci and Michelangelo, respectively. The Classical Age saw the creation of such temples as the Parthenon and many exquisite temples and shrines. One can go back thousands of years back in history and find examples of humanities ability to express and enhance people, places, and things through art. The history of art traces all the way back to over 75,000 years ago, during the Middle Stone Age in Africa.
