The Cultural Revolution of China was a life changing event for the Chinese. Especially, if you were from an intellectual privileged background. Intellectual meaning well educated. Privileged meaning you were able to procure yourself a good life from your education. It was a hard life for people with this background. This was attested in the book “Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress” by Dai Sijie. The author himself lived through the Cultural Revolution.
