Introduction
Snow is a form of precipitation which is not a common weather occurrence in most parts of the world as complicated weather systems have to be present in order for it to occur. In most people’s views in New Zealand, snow is a special winter weather occurrence which only happens a view times a year, if at all. People enjoy a snow fall as snow is soft and fun to play with and recreational activities such as skiing and snowboarding rely on it. However snowfalls can also have a negative impact with too much snow or snow which has not been forecasted causing major problems as was seen in the 2006 south island snowstorm. Snowfalls have the ability to close roads and to damage power lines and so forecasting when and how much snow will fall is critical.
This report will give the reader a detailed account of the way in which snow is formed as there is a complicated process which must occur in order for snow crystals to form. How snow is forecasted will then be shown. The......
