High Cost of Medical Care for Illegal Immigrants

The public hospital has lost more than $1 million a year from treating illegal immigrants, many of which got hurt while trying to cross the border-- "People who broke bones trying to jump the 20ft border fence in Calexico, or almost drowned trying to get across the All American Canal, or get dehydrated in Imperial Valley Desert
The hospital near El Centro, Pioneers Memorial Hospital, lost more than $500,000 for the same thing along with unpaid ambulance and doctor fees. The two hospitals have to give care to 150,000 people in a county that already has some of the highest unemployment and poverty rates.
